Default V70 P2 2005 Stereo Upgrade/Exchange

I'm looking to replace my V70 stereo with the following:

https://www.bluepower.se/en/product/...6-version.html

Interested to hear from anyone that has fitted whether this is a decent unit or would I be better off fitting Alpine twin DIN etc.
I want the stereo to look right in the car so the surround needs to match original panel and this seems ideal. I also want to keep the cup holder ;-)

Silly question maybe, how do I know if I have the external amplifier as per the options in this link?

Smile ext amp

Have a look under the drivers seat on the floor thats where the external amp is,

What HU audio have you got, it should be on the front panel, something like HU850 which is the one with ext amp,

Good question JN I have been looking at this unit for some time but the census of opinion on the interwebs is not very promising. Having said that I haven't found any reviews, good or bad, posted in the last 2 years. Now this could well be that the teething troubles are all sorted or everyone has been scared off buying one. They look the danglies and the reviewers that have had a working one, albeit for not very long, praise them! Are there any members out there that have first hand experience of the BLP-840?

My understanding is that they stopped developing the Bluepower unit as it was fundamentally a bit of a lemon..

I would be hesitant unless you can see it in real life or videos of it in use. There's plenty of fascia adaptors around for double din units.

Yes I think there are better units available from well known brands.

My only concern and it may seem like nit picking is whether the surrounding fascia would match the current surrounding area as it's not the same black?

I found the surrounds on several sites either blank or with the gap for the cup holder etc. but they're solid black.

https://www.dynamicsounds.co.uk/conn...ia-plates.html

Are these available where you can still use the cup holder?

It sounds like the texture of this one may match the car?

That's correct. 2000-04 is elephant grey. Facelift is black.
