I am following this thread with interest, would it be any easier or more difficult to turbocharge a k-jectronic mechanical injection engine?

hassle
If you want a turbo volvo buy one. The 1997 940 is the best option for future upgrades. There's hardly a shortage of them is there.
By the time you've faffed about you could have been running a turbo volvo for 10 months. The money you will have saved can then go to upgrading one that's worth upgrading.

One factor that occurs to me is. If one buys a turbo "standard car" then both insurance and spares might be better/easier/more convenient/cheaper. And re-sale value might well be better? I saw an interesting thread about re-sale values after adding turbo to a 240. Basically I would think one does the turbo job because one wants to. Not in expectation of recouping the outlay? |

Indeed Stephen, in my case it'd be in order to improve the car, more oomph to cope with the added weight that a camper conversion will bring and perhaps a little more fun too

But your vehicle no longer has to contend with a dead weight.
Did I say that? . |

But to choose to pay someone else to reduce the value of your current vehicle without getting the fully engineered solution that the factory turbo versions represents? Thats a bit of madness imo. |

Unfortunately I don't think Nielsson converted turbo 740's into hearses, they seem to have gone with the basic 2.0 n/a. So I cannot purchase what I want which complicates things!
Of course, I could go and buy a ubiquitous van to convert into a camper, or one already converted- but where would the fun be with that? (also I would still need the hearse, on account of being killed by my other half if I dared sell it).

Quiet chuckle. Thanks. But I'm an olde reactionary. On the other hand. One can obtain a bespoke turbo specification. And. In Tom's case he probably won't find a turbo hearse factory specification. |

Tell your other half, if they kill you, then you will haunt them....and ask who would drive the hearse at your, disposal. Is it lawful for a man to marry his widow's sister? David is excluded from answering that question. iirc, he has got it right already. . |
