v40 1.9td gearbox code

Hi there im new to this forum and new to volvo ownership, my girlfriend went to pick up our new 1998 v40 1.9td. On the way home the gearbox decided to explode, so i thought its ok i will get the gearbox code and try and find a good second hand unit but the tag is missing on the gearbox and the code underneath is also gone so i wondered if anyone could tell me the gearbox code or point me in the right direction or even has one for sale. I have been led to believe it is a renault jc box is this right

You can find it from the ninth digit of your VIN as per attachement..

thanks for the rapid response but was the mt5 and jb3 also fitted to the 1.9td

Volvo S40 1998 1.731cc and Volvo S40/V40 1998, 1999 en 2000 1.731cc, 1.800cc and 1.900cc

I am not sure if the 1900cc refers to the diesel.... A more experienced member might be able to help.
