V40 heater not blowing hot air
Hi everyone!
New to the forum so hello to everyone. On my third V40, this one being a '99 2.0T. One or two probelms, the first being that the heater fan works, but the heater isn't blowing out any hot air. When I start the car, the air con green light flashes and the recirc light flashes too, with a rapid clicking of what sounds like a relay from somewhere behind the dash. Not too fussed about the air con working, but could do with some warm air - HELP! |

Hi there
Does your engine warm up properly according to your temperature gauge? if not most likely to be a thermostat which is stuck open. I've just replaced mine, £7 odds from eurocarparts and reasonably easy to do warm cabin and better mpg now! |

Yeah seems to - guage reads just below horizontal.
Wouldn't the air be slightly warm if the stat' was stuck open? It's baltic in there!! |

Yeah, would be a little bit warm at least!! - not much though if mines was anything to go by!
sounds a bit more complicated - should be someone who can point you in the right direction |

Anyone know what the rapid clicking is when I turn the ignition on? It goes off after about a minute and seems to be coming from the fan area, though not from the relays I can get at as I've unplugged these and teh clicking continues....

Now have hot air - installed the patented 'manual override actuation linkage'.
...a length of plastic trunking lid with a hole in one end, pushed onto the white plastic stud on the hot / cold actuator gate behind the ashtray. A pull or a push of said lever and I have hot or cold air on tap!! Also sorted out that pesky clicking behind the dash' by emptying the gubbings out of the A/C actuator module - just unplugging it didn't work, as the fan wouldn't operate. |
