hi Paul,
Firstly, what's your driving habits like, do you only do short journeys, leave the car idling in the cold mornings to defrost it, have a heavy right foot, late braking?

any other symptons, such as poor idle, lumpy when accelerating?
Any chance you could pop a spark plug out and inspect the colour/condition of the electrode?

Ive just posted a thread myself with regards to poor economy. My thinking at the momment is the Fuel Pressure Regulater amongst a few other things. If you want to follow it - http://www.volvoforums.org.uk/showthread.php?t=116912
