Unhappy Reluctantly i am selling my V40 T4

As the title states i am selling my beloved T4.
There is no particular reason other than i have purchased a Range Rover P38 as it was too tempting to say no.
And the fact that i had to borrow some of the money for that purchase from the wife means i'm on her bitch list so the T4 has to go.

There has been a load of work done to my T4 over the two years i've owned it, and most of its recent work has been documented on the forums.
The main work being that i had to have an exhaust valve replaced, which also meant new head gasket, timing belt etc.
The timing had to be done by a specialists near to where i live and i have the receipts to prove it.

Since owning the T4 i have purchased lots of parts to get it back to its former glory, nearly all of them being genuine Volvo, but there is still a little bit to be done.
Those parts consist of the following.
  • Turbo (used replacement)
  • Fuel pump and sender unit (used replacement)
  • Pre and post CAT Lambda sensors (one new and one used replacement)
  • Front and rear bottom engine mounts (Both used with the rear to be fitted)
  • Fuel pressure regulator (used replacement)
  • Coil packs (used replacements)
  • Coolant temperature sensor (new but not original Volvo)
  • Offside lower ball joint (new but not original Volvo)
  • Front anti-roll linkages (new but not original Volvo)
  • Rear anti-roll linkages (new but not original Volvo)
  • Rear tailgate struts (new but not original Volvo)
  • Parcel shelf (original one missing so replaced. Needs hooks for the rear pillars)
  • Bee sting aerial (replacement Volvo part)
  • New timing belt and idler pulley (new original Volvo parts and replaced at 173,000 miles)
  • New exhaust valve and head de-carbed (work done at a specialist engine centre)
  • New head gasket plus all other seals required as part of the job (original Volvo parts supplied by FRF )
  • Steering wheel replaced (original Volvo to replace my ripped one)

There is probably a lot more but that's all i can remember at the moment.
I have more parts to go on the car.
These are,
  • 4X Eibach suspension struts (to be fitted)
  • New Brembo rear brake discs and pads (to be fitted)
  • New rear brake hoses to be fitted (to be fitted)

It will come with a full 12 months MOT as its currently in the test centre so i should get it back tomorrow or Monday.

The things that i know it will need are as follows.
  • New exhaust system (current one is looking heavily corroded)
  • Exhaust manifold (there is a hairline crack in it but doesn't seem to leak unless under load)
  • Timing belt covers (existing ones had to be taken off to glue back together but with the bad weather kicking i didn't get a chance to refit them)
  • Drivers side A pillar casing for the seat belt (needs replacing as the the seat has cut into it through normal use. A common problem)
  • Possibly needs rear wheel bearing replacing (not sure if its tyres or wheel bearing)
  • Creaking top mount from one of the rear suspensions struts (have replacement struts with nearly new mounts)
  • Some of the plastic body trims could do with being sorted (a few have broken clips)
  • Near side marker light needs replacing as the original is missing and needs new wire to solder to fog light (missing before owning the car)
  • Engine cover needs replacing as it is broken in one corner
  • The boot lid has chevron decals on it and will need removing (not a hard job to do)
  • Scratches, some deep, on the rear bumper and plastic trim.
  • Headlining at the boot lid needs sticking back into place and has small rips in a couple of places
  • Currently has after market headunit in but i still have the original (needs code)

I've listed all that i can remember off the top of my head but feel free to ask any questions.

Overall, the car is well looked after and is serviced by myself regularly.
Its had 6 services, with the most recent being in October.
It also had new original Volvo spark plugs in November too.
She's done just over 186,000 miles and regularly goes to north Wales and back to the West Midlands as i have family up there.

I'm asking £750 for her.
There are various pictures on the forum but i will upload some more if needed.

Just to add further to the MOT situation, i went to the garage to check what the damage was going to be.
It had failed and i've listed the main ones below.

Bulging rear brake flexi-hose N/S & O/S
Leaking front flexi-hose O/S
Brake efficiency (can't remember the failure but was told it was because of the leaking hoses)
Rear tyres have cracks in the rim of the tread.

One surprising thing, and shocking, was that the locking wheel nut on the front O/S was missing.
Now, i check the wheel nuts roughly on a fortnightly basis.
I did this as towards the beginning of last summer, some little ****s were going around loosening the wheel nuts on peoples cars.
Mine, and my neighbours, were done and i didn't realise this was happening until my Mrs came back from shopping and started to complain about a knocking noise wheel driving.
I took it out for a run around the block and noticed it when on straight roads.
When i got the car home and jacked it up, the front N/S wheel moved.
And when i touched by hand it would wobble a fair bit.
Worse thing about it all was that not only was my Mrs in the car, my daughter was too.
As you can imagine, i was peeved.
That's why i regularly check the wheels and the wheel nuts.

Anyway, that was the major stuff.
The not so major stuff were two things.

Rear number plate bulb out (known about this but comes back on with a tap. Told the bulb is most likely culprit)
Hazard warning lights none operational unless key is in the ignition. ( this is a new one to me as it was fine on last years MOT. An auto electrician is going to take a look)

The car won't be ready until Thursday now as that's the earliest the auto electrician will be able to sort out the hazard lights.
Apart from that, the rest is a days work.

Hi everyone.

Unfortunately, due to poor health and being out of work, i am now selling my T4 as i simply cannot afford to run it anymore.
Things are that bad.

I'm dropping the price to £450 if anyone is interested and i will consider breaking it if there is no interest in an overall sale. Well, i'll get my son to remove parts while i supervise with a cuppa in my hand.

Most of you regulars who have looked at my various threads and postings will know what this car has been through and what expense i've poured into it to put it right.
There is a few things to get done but i have the parts for them anyway so its a case of fitting and you're done.

In an updated to the main post there are a few things that have been done.

The suspension, the new brake discs and pads and hoses have now all been fitted.
I also have a replacement wiring loom for the cabin as well as a replacement sidemarker light to be fitted.

Current mileage is just under 189,000 miles and still running like a train.

Feel free to ask me whatever questions you have with regards to the car and i will get them answered as soon as.

The colour of the car is red/burgundy.
There should be some pictures of it in my profile but I will get more in better light.

The engine code is B4194T.

Hi all,

Long time no see. I hope everyone is doing ok.

I'm updating this thread as i've still not brought myself to part with my beloved T4 but i'm getting a new car soon so this, and my other motor, needs to be sold for the room.

I have extras that will all be thrown in at the point of sale which are mainly made of spares that i've accumulated, and which have been replaced with new, or newer condition versions.
It will need to be towed as it has no MOT or tax currently as its stood for a good few months and hasn't been used.
I have a wiring loom for the vehicle as the existing one had been butchered by a previous owner and has somehow rendered the hazard lights inoperable without the ignition on.
It sounds like a big job but isn't as bad as it seems, if you've ever pulled one of these vehicles apart to do other things.
All in all, it'll be a sad day when it goes but i really don't have a choice now so i would rather see it go to someone who can make best use of it.

If you look through my profile for threads and posts i've made in the past, you will know that almost no expense has been spared to keep this best on the road.

I'm now asking £450 for it now, including any extra bits i have for it.
This will also include the aftermarket head unit and original stereo too.

If you need anymore info then please ask and i will responed asap
