daytime running lights failed, is it legal ???????
Hi, Please can anyone help me. my side lights have failed !!!, is it legal to drive at night with just the head lights. Sorry if this is a dumb question but i know you clever people will be able to help me.....Please, thanks Knight

It is illegal to drive with just the sidelights on at any time, which are there only for "parking lights". The headlight is so much more powerful than the sidelight that with no sidelight bulbs illuminated I would be amazed if it made any difference to the beam if the DIPPED headlights are illuminated.

The rules of "Construction and Use of Vehicles and Equipment" basically state that if it is fitted to your car, then it/they must work. Your sidelights therefore must work, or you are committing an offence under CaU if you drive on the highway. Further reading, Road Traffic Act, Construction and Use of Vehicles and Equipment section 41 (2) h, and section 42 (1) b. Regards Malky |
