Without making an outright advert of it...

Try PeterBestInsurance.co.uk

They reduced my insurance by a significant amount - and without losing too many #bolt ons'.

You're a student now, so more likely to be doing doughnuts in the Mc'd car park and driving through the night to raves with a car full......

On a serious not, I agree, its ridiculous increase considering no other material changes. They're just out to fleece. Any chance of getting a small part-time job to make you employed?

get a quote for comp, with high excess, tell them your occupation is trainee in full time education, rather than unemployed, this might help a bit, regards Malcolmk

Get on the comparison sites, then ring the cheaper reputable quoters direct ans see what they can do for you.
Believe it or not, prices for fully comp can often be similar, or occasionally cheaper than TPFT - maybe the insurers think that wanting fully comp somehow makes you a more responsible human being...

I would change insurers anyway Tesco have a pretty poor record when it comes to handling claims should the worst happen.

Do an online quote with someone else, and with them direct ring them up and get it down. Your status definitely will be causing issues.

Unemployeed is a huge amount worse than student for job spec (every time I enquired the companies I spoke to counted Postgrad and Undergrad as "Student" rather than unemployed)
