Thanks for the tip, we are expecting that area to be the culprit.
I've requested any replaced parts to be kept so I can get a closer look for myself and post photos to help others diagnose the fault in the future.

The offending hose has been removed and confirmed as having a split.
I will post photos later (can't do it from work) but the part number is: 3m516c646-ud
Prices vary from £42-£560, so obviously I've gone for the cheapest option. I may smoother it in Duct tape to reinforce it before fitting.

Hoping to have the replacement by the 9th Sep.

Smoke issue now found! all injectors fooked! Never seen injector fault behaving this way before! Now back to the so called diesel specialist to hit him between the eyes with them, they said they tested perfect! Borrowed injectors out of my galaxy this evening and all went well. Now to source a replacement set!

I'm glad you got it sorted, and understand your frustrations.
Obviously you paid to have them checked, and when they (falsely) got the 'all clear' you would have invested time and money looking for other faults.

I took my car to 3 different Volvo specialists (one of which had it for a week) and not one of them spotted the hose or diagnosed it with the symptoms.
I've spent more time working on it than I have driving it, and although I loved it at first, I've grown to hate it and want it gone.
Fingers crossed that the new hose will fix my fault and the car will achieve better MPG so I can save a few quid and buy something better.

I read your posts more than once and to be honest I think your split hose is a new issue, I hope for your sake it cures all but your symptoms and mine are too alike. This one was drinking diesel like yours too and while you say you've had injectors tested, like mine I think their gona be the main cause of your issues too. I understand your loss of heart, if this car was mine I'd have bought a carry out and a deck chair and had a beer while watching it smoulder!

I suffered very similar issues with my V50 and fully understand the frustration.

Mine also seems to be injector problems - see my other posts.

I was lucky to find a decent specialist who tested the injectors over their full range for £15 per injector. His view is that the Siemens injectors are a rather inferior product. All 4 of mine were faulty in different ways.

I used Peter Strong near Reading. He seemed very good.
