and the Creeping of the 30-40 limits back on roads that were 60s,,
For that to happen, there normally has to be X amount of accidents with serious injuries or fatalities, well, that's how it is around here..... Which road are you on about?

take your pick round here
no "reason" for the reductions or extending the 30/40 zones other than to catch people out

same as the BS "average speed camera" crap they have installed on the A45
in 40 zones,, where in rush hour traffic, or school run times youd be Lucky to get to 20.
thats Without the camera's going out towards the airport, about 9 at last count,
*does NOT include the red light cameras , which ARE a saftey item , just the stealth tax BS ones

You will find that there is always a reason chap, here's sommat i found interesting on the A45

I used to frequent Birmingham a lot back in the late 90's early 20's and traffic was bad during rush hour back then so I can only imagine how bad it is now what it more cars on the roads etc, that single statistic as only increases year on year.

During 2016 alone there were...

Casualties
• Total casualties: 141
• Killed and Seriously Injured: 18 (13% of all casualties, down 0.4% when compared to 2015 figure of 20 of 152)
o Killed: 0 (0% of all casualties, down by 3%)
o Seriously injured: 18 (13% of all casualties, down by 2%)
• Slights: 123 (87% of all casualties
0 deaths, I bet that's due to the road being a slow one due to the amount traffic, but the serious injuries was 18.

54 KSI during 2014 - 2016 (Killed or Serious injury)

"But officer I was doing under the speed limit!"

These fine specimens weren't speeding either, probably spotless driving records

Wonder if it could be something to do with people not being as capable behind the wheel as in days of yore.

Speed limits are being reduced in my opinion as cars are getting faster and faster and peoples attitude behind the wheel these days is that of "get out of my way" no concern for other road users and straight in to attack mode the moment a slight problem occurs.

I was at a set of temporary lights the other day and everyone had to stop on green to let an ambulance through. This blocked off a side road. Mr Mercedes on his Deliveroo run then starts mouthing off at the car that is stuck blocking it through no fault of his own. The deliveroo driver then gets out walks, 20 seconds if that (I'm serious he is that close) up the road and delivers whatever he had. Walks back starts mouthing off at the driver and then gets in his car. The lights turn green again and he cuts the other driver up to go the same way as him!!!

I agree with GreenVanMan.

Before lockdown I was driving some 800-1200 miles a week, for the past 10 years, mainly commuting but then for family stuff on weekends also, usually covering areas on a weekly basis I'd never seen.

Sticking to the posted speed limits has been the sole reason for no tickets! Yes its annoying seeing 20mph speed restrictions on the M6 at 3am with nothing in sight Having every retard tailgate and flash you around the M25 for sticking to the posted limits boiling my blood for hours etc but, my motto is don't speed and you have no fear of getting caught out!

Many a driver who may have been stuck behind me doing 30mph in a 30mph should be grateful as often they would have got caught by a scamera van further up, only getting off my bumper when we go past one.
