Default Power Steering hose Leccy version

Daft question,
Seem to be unable to locate an aftermarket hoses for the C30 07 1800 version.

I'd assumed (wrongly) that these hoses would be easily available!!

All the listings seem to specifically say 'w/o electric' and I cannot see why they are so different? it is only the short steel secttion at the rack that is goosed :-(

i'm tempted to just buy a 'wrong' set and then get the local hydraulic engineering company to join at the straight section on inner wing!!

We used compression hydraulic fittings in previous company .. . .

could maybe even be fitted without removal of the pipe from the pump etc?

I'm not convinced they are available as a separate part at all, even from Volvo. Pretty sure it's a rack replacement job.

When I had that issue the garage fabricated new pipes themselves to avoid replacement of the steering rack.

Iain
in that case I'll maybe take a punt on a used one, can't be poorer condtion than mine!

they are just a 'push-fit' and held in with a horse-shoe clip at the rack end.

the ally one is a wiggly fit but under pressure the 'O' ring will seal (well they do on our pingers/EM transmitters) :-)

Took a punt on a 'used' pump & hoses for a Ford Focus C-MAX at £75, no idea if the pump is correct part but i can confirm (not surprised) that the hoses DO fit....

For information it came off a 2004 version, I suspect that these must have been fitted just prior to car being scarpped/broken as the green paint is intact :-)

That's the good news and fitted within the hour, with little fluid running down my arm(s), mostly I guess as it was pretty much empty. odd ruddy spanner size, 17<??<19mm maybe 18mm, or an imperial size ??

bad news is that although it seemed to be spraying from the main supply line, it was actually spraying from the pipe going to the pistons and just skimming the supply, (or maybe also?) so one forward two back....

update, bought a whole rack with the two hoses, correct part number for £45 from tinterweb , advertised as a STARING rack :-)

Garage job as the subframe needed dropped to either,

A swap rack, and hope used one was OK

B gain access to steel cross pipes and just change them

Garage went for option B , with some swearing the fittings came out, bottom middle fitting near impossible to get to :-(

all good
