Sensus is a lovely interface and a great bit of car tech, but I don't have a lot of faith at the moment in Volvo's technical abilities, we have issues like this that don't seem to get resolved quickly and I've had various Sensus crashes, can't get Spotify to stream reliably on anything but the best of internet connection, issues with the My Volvo website that isn't able to interface particularly well with the car build process, the Volvo On Call app which sometimes can't record consumption for a journey, and the Volvo support forums which are a great idea, but lack the support.

Love my car, but let down by dodgy tech. Look around the forums, there are way way more tech than mechanical problems.

That's what I can't understan either, it seems as though the car modem is somehow linked to a central server, rather than a direct link to the mobile ISP. Wifi still works for the kids, so they're not complaining - happy holidays!

If you are connecting your car to your home wifi then you can run tools to sniff the network traffic and see whether it is all going to one place or each app connects to its own end point.

I'd give it a go.... if I had an XC90

I do not have a car modem, but connect with a three data sim card, in a MiFi unit.
Today, when trying to get the apps to work, I had the car and the iPad connected, the iPad worked perfectly, but the car refused to do anything, except to tell me that the apps were not available and to try later.
This is the first time that I have experienced this situation.

If it is a one off then it can be accepted, did Volvo apologise and explain the issue anywhere?

Regarding your point about service provider routing, perhaps Volvo is gathering usage data about all the apps and routing it via their servers would be a way of doing this?
volvos IT and web sites internal and external , and Vida etc have always been awful to use and navigate and to find what you want they need a complete revamp from the ground up . The best system is the old text based QW90 from 25 years ago .

It also looks like "My Volvo" is down today.
Get a blank page with faint 503 in top left corner.
As said many times - Volvo IT - Crap.

Have you managed to try today to see if the system is up and running again?

In the months I was using My Volvo to track my order I noticed that it was often down at the weekend.

From previous attempts at connecting I'd left TuneIn and Downloads on the centre screen. After Sensus finished booting the Downloads pane said No Updates (or words to that effect) implying it had successfully checked. I then tried TuneIn and that worked. But when I tried Weather I got a connection error. After that, none of the apps worked. Is it just a coincidence (that the servers all went down again) or did the failure to connect to Weather then affect all the other apps? If the latter, that's p*ss-poor system design/implementation.

I will try the V60 later today.

I wonder, if anyone picking up a new Volvo today, will be able to register it online before leaving the dealers?
