Default T8 Due in March - Dealer arghhhh

I ordered a T8 last June, with explicit understanding that it is delivered before end of March so that i can claim the capital allowances for a LEV.

Call me old fashioned but if I'm paying £68k for a car then I expect a lot of love, the dealers are mediocre at best, communication is very poor.

Called Volvo customer service this week, and all of a sudden a flurry of emails....

Build week of last week of Feb - Good
Planned arrival date at dealer 11th March - Good
Revised finance quote - residuals at end of 4 years have been revised up by £4k since december - Good
£5k government grant sorted - Good
Pod point charging unit sorted, being fitted Monday - Good

So its all coming together.... exciting really.

Sadly most employed people need reminding of who pays their wages at some stage. As well as national service I vote that everyone should be self employed in their job for at least a month to see if they actually deliver what it is they are there to do. Paid on results would be great.

Can you tell im self employed?

Are you actually going to part with £68k?

the tax man will pay a fairly big chunk of it, so thats good.

3 kids and frequent visitors means i need a big 7 seater, all the contenders are £45k up....

it does **** me off though that the US$ for the same car is the same in $$$..... why ???? (could be sales tax though)

Or it could be that we as a country are just door mats getting ripped off blatantly at every opportunity.
Why not get one from the states then?
Import duties and taxes would surely outweigh the tax breaks your going to get.
Maybe I'm wrong but 68k is a few quid when you can get it for 68k Dollars.

You wont get a right hand drive car in usa, youll be doing well to find a salesman who has even heard of such a thing. The ignorance over there is astonishing.

You used to be able to buy RHD drive Volvo's tax free in Belgium tax but unfortunatly this has been stopped by Volvo.

The current pre VAT price for basic LHD T8 in Belgium is 65.413,22 euros and at today's exchange rate is £ 49.437,00.

If you imported the car yourself into the UK, you would have to pay the UK VAT at 20%, which makes the car UK price a grand total of £ 59.323,00.

Still a saving but alas it is a LHD car, someone is making a healthy profit somewhere!

Maybe buy a LHD and with the spare £10,000 buy a place in France.Worked for me.
I've got so fed up with UK ripping us off at every opurtunity instead of banging on about it and doing nothing that's what I've done.
Once the Maison is fully renovated and I'm more fluent in French I'm off.
