Help.. Can I put a DPF on my car...
It looks like my recently purchased 2006 s40 1.6d, has had its DPF hollowed out. The ADM is showing missing signal so I guess this has been disconnected...
I cannot see the car passing the test and in any case I prefer to drive a legal vehicle. Am I mad?? Any experience of cheap DPF's or from Scrapyard |

You may have to get it reprogrammed back onto the car. I was always under the impression with a Dpf removal it had to be written out the car software to avoid any fault codes. I'm sure a aftermarket dpf would work as long as its the correct one, make sure it states OEM then you shouldnt have problems. If it's been remapped that could potentially cause problems depending on the remap quality.

In reality if the existing DPF is drilled through, is it possible that the sensor is simply showing the reality... o% pressure difference.... I am going to put on a new EGR and have the car tested.. if there is too many issues I can then take a view on how to proceed... If it passes then from the results it should be clear if the DPF is drilled through.. |

Couldn't tell you sorry, volvo definately would but it may cost you. You could always ask for a quote to put the ECU back to factory spec if it's been deleted and you want it back on.

Would it not be illegal to sell the car as it would be unable to pass an mot?

Passing the nct.. Mot is not the real legal issue... is it compliant with its cert of conformity is really the point.. ie had it been modified so it no longer complies... And to be more precise was there misrepresentation... ie the intention to deceive... or just plain fraud... |
