Ooh...

I have to ask, as this seems to offer "options" that our cars don't have as std, does the box simply "carry out" the commands, using "activations" similar to those in VIDA, ie, when it senses the doors locking/unlocking, does it raise/lower the windows in a similar manner to using the activations in VIDA, but obviously, without user intervention?

Is this why it has to remain connected?

Looks like I can answer my own question, after a read on their site..

Quote:
How does the CFE work?
- Your Volvo has several littel computers
- These computers talk to each other trough a network
- The CFE is connected (as a little computer) to this network as well and can talk with/against and listen to the other computers in your Volvo!
- So, the CFE is capable "hearing" and of responding with tasks to the computers in the Volvo.
Interesting...

So this device pretends to be another "NODE" on the cars network.

Clever bit of kit, well worth the price tag.

I'd say it was more of an "automated macro" type device, ie, upon sensing a certain action, ie lock/unlock etc, it then sends a series of commands to the car, ie windows up/down etc... I like it though, and likewise, think it could be worth the ££..

That dial sweep with ignition on is super cool.
I was hoping i'd be able to enable some of the features that you have with my recently aquired DICE unit (Mirrors and windows down on unlock) but sadly this was not the case.

The dial sweep and the windows can be done using VIDA so one of the original nodes must have the ability to do that. My guess is its the CEM that has that ability ..
The Mirrors must use the door nodes(PDM and DDM) ..

What makes this device clever is it has the ability to do things non of the other nodes can.

Can it ? I had a look through when I was hooked up with VIDA but couldn't see how to activate it.
Where would I find this activation ?

Thanks
