V40 2014 d2 window mirror controls not working
Hi,
First off apologies for my first post being one asking for help but as always you only start to look at maintenance tasks until the car is out of warranty. So looks like the controls on the drivers door have developed a fault. Lock on door works but mirror and window controllers not working any more. Wing mirrors folding in and out fine with lock. Checked fuses they seem fine under seat so I'm left thinking the door control module could be fried? It's compounded by the fact that I tried unsuccessfully to fit a 5v usb adapter for a dash cam. I'm not sure if this action fried but given I was using the glove box fuse box I'm not convinced this was related. Any guidance appreciated including guidance on how to get to and install a replacement door module if it is this would be great. I don't have anything to scan the car with for faults either as all my scan kit is vag based! Thanks for reading |

Truth be told yes - not sure if its a coincidence or not.
Thing that confuses me is that the fuse for the controls is a completely different fusebox. |

Doubt that is a coincidence. You have fried something.

Ok I guess irrespective of the reasons (ie what's the reason for a fuse box if it doesn't protect from surges?) am I looking at replacing this?
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2015-Volvo...UAAOSwXshaOPof And if so how do I go about cleanly getting in there to replace? It's a given is disconnect the battery prior to any of this work of course Edit: just to confirm I've used the eBay listing as example only as that's for the wrong door obviously! Looks like the fusebox behind the glove box isn't just a fusebox it seems. Looks like potentially linbus comms may have been fried.
Should have stuck to vag group cars! Last edited by Cheechy; Jan 24th, 2018 at 20:16. |

Yikes, thanks for posting. A lesson to all here. Please get back and advise how much it costs to fix.

So luckily found a good Volvo specialist locally with the skills and knowledge to fix without full dealer pricing.
Total cost to repair £136. Could have been worse but effectively thats money straight down the drain. Warning to all indeed! |
