Default 1966 Volvo P1800S For Sale

There is a 1966 Volvo P1800S LHD For Sale in Scotland.(20.000? pound).
Offered ad Car and classic co uk.
Someone familiar with this car or seller?
I'm looking for this car for quit some time, is there a possibility in the UK to make a pre purchase inspection?
So basically I'm asking for some help.

Greetings Wil.

Although the car seems better than average in the photos, these cars are notorious for bodgery as they are difficult and expensive to put right. I have owned two 1800's in my time. welded and repaired them, then eventually sold them on.

I have looked at quite a few. ALL of them were hiding copious amounts of filler. You will need a keen eye, magnet and torch on these cars. My advice, is get an expert to look at it or leave well alone. The prices of these cars are getting quite ridiculous considering a lot of them are actually restoration projects dressed up as Lamb!!

Car is noted as being in Glasgow.

Sounds like an honest advert but I would contact the seller asking for more detailed photographs and much more information about the car.

Maybe someone from the Scottish Owners Section could assist with going to view or it maybe it's worth using Google to find an independent motor vehicle examiner in the area who could pay a visit and get a professional and guaranteed appraisal.

I looked at buying a car from Denmark but the additional and more detailed photos told me the bigger story and I decided not to proceed as the car was needing more work than originally stated in the advert.

Mike.

Hi Russ,

Am in Aberdeen so a bit far for me. Where in Aberdeen is Gordon now, he'd be a good guy to ask if he is near there.

Hi all, indeed I am not far from Glasgow and where the car is but was reluctant to put myself forward due to time restraints and an upcoming holiday.
I did do business with the vendor several years ago when I bought some parts from him and can comment that he is a genuine guy and his car would certainly be worth a look into.
Perhaps I could discuss things further via pm?
