Default Volvo S70 stalls out

When i hit the gas, the RPM will go up really fast, even if I only use my toe for that. I can drive like 20 seconds and then the car stalls out. I pull the key out, put it back in, start the car and everything works fine. Sometimes i have it 5 times a day, sometimes once a month

Which engine do you have? What year is the car? And are there any fault codes stored?

I'm not a diesel fan so I'm afraid I'm not even going to guess on this one but I would say that getting the car hooked up to a decent diagnostics unit would be a good start and will probably give some clues as to what's going on. If the problem gets any worse and threatens to leave you stranded (i.e. it won't go away with a simple engine restart) I'd try disconnecting the electrical connector on the mass air flow meter and seeing how the car runs.
