Default Blowing Coils

I have a 2001 C70 with the B5244T engine. It was running lumpy when I bought it and l replaced the spark plugs with genuine new ones. The problem still persisted until last week, when three coils were diagnosed to be faulty and then replaced as well. Since then the car has been running like a dream until this evening, when the car was started and the coil symptoms resurfaced again .

Could this be a case where one of the final two coils are the problem and they simply need to be replaced due to their age?

It seems that would be the case , but it isn't age , are they original ? or cheap replacments ? It is rare for one to go let alone 5 on the same car .

Run the engine and pull then reconnect coils in turn.
If the engine runs worse, they're probably ok and if the engine is no worse, the coil is knackered.

Also have a look at the wiring on the top of the engine going to the ignition coils, it may have a short or it might get crushed by the black plastic cover. Check the grounds near the ignition coils are fine as well.

One remaining coil is non Volvo, the other one is. Potentially I think it is just one out of the remaining two that is gone, as I'd imagine the car would be running very bad if two actual coils were poorly. The three new coils I had put in last week were genuine Volvo branded.

I have tried that method before of removing the coils with the engine running. Does it carry any risk?

Last time I did that, some coils just caused the revs to reduce, while another would stall the engine completely.
