240 Fuel Injection Woes
Hi Folks
I own a fuel injected 240 estate that, until recently, has been running perfectly. The problem is that sometimes when you try to start the vehicle the car is completely dead. It has been suggested that the problem may lie with the safety fuel cut off . I understand that in the event of an accident there is an electrical device that shuts of the fuel pump, could some of the knowlegable Volvo fanatics please tell me where such a device is located. |

Not able to answer your specific query re: cut-off device as I don't believe my vehicles have one (cars too old?)
Hopefully, someone else will give you an answer for this or other possible causes of your problem. However, I expect that one question that you need to answer is what year and/or fuel injection system is fitted to your 240. To my knowledge two different systems were fitted. early cars had K-Jetronic (sometimes referred to as CI or Continuous Injection) and later cars with LH-Jetronic (various versions fitted eg 2.2 and 2,4) Hopefully this may help you get a satisfactory answer. Sorry I can't give you any further help. |

There is no fuel cut off switch on the 240 series. When you say completely dead what do you mean, turns over but doesn't start, no lights, no spark, no fuel what. Model, engine and Injection system please. Check all fuses and check when you turn the ignition on you can hear the pump under the car run for a few seconds, you can only test this function every 5 mins so listen carefully. Regards Peter
