Default Chip or map

Hi all

Have sold my bike so funds available to get a bit more from my C30D5. I know there are a few threads on this but I would like any opinions on whether a re-map is better than a chip. Looking at Shark and Superchip ( Bluefin).

1 thing I have found is that the Superchip site says that re-mapping can interfere with some of the sensors in the engine. ???

Price and power gains seem similar.

Opinions please.

thanks

Ken

All the advice points towards a remap from a reputable tuner, experienced in Volvo remapping, to be the way to go. Shark come highly recommended, and I have been running their Stage 1 map on my T5 for over 12 months and 10,000 miles now with no issues. Car now hilariously rapid, and frequently puts a massive grin on my face. I would avoid generic drop in 'chips' at all cost.

Default MTE Re-Map

Hi, MTE is a popular map used by quite a few people. If you contact Don at don@kalmar-union.com he can discuss the map with you. You can send him a refundable deposit and he sends you the map on a softloader so that you download it to your car.

i've had 3 cars remapped no issues, one car I put a plug in box on for a week and it never drove right since.

everyone will have their own story, but mine is that a plug in box effectively wrote off a car for me, 3 remaps and never had an issue, although I tried a sport map and it did finish off my already worn clutch, but that's me driving like a tit more than the map imo

Hi you can not just get a programed chip to fit in the ecu with a updated engine map,, as each ecu is programed for that car,

Shark have a good reputation and I had a decent natter with them at the T5D5 track day this year where they had a stand and a demo car etc.

I have had a MTE remap on my S70R auto for 6 or so years now.....no issues at all ..... Its not got the big bollocks BHP claims but, its very driveable, sublime, allows the car to be driven with precision and is just perfect on the road with no wasted performance.

My C70 will get either a Shark or MTE, not sure yet which but those are the one two I'd consider via reputation/experience.
