Thinking ahead - Front cross member welding
G'day Folks,
I was wondering how stable the front outriggers / chassis legs (under the engine) of a PV544 actually are... ...I wonder because I have to make up a new cross member tube (cheaper than buying a spare part - it is only a bit of 2 inch tube that needs the fixings welded to it and seeing as I'm going to be welding it anyway) and weld it onto the front of these chassis legs. If I cut this front cross member is it likely that the weight of the engine will splay the legs out a bit? I'm not planning to remove the subframe just yet but can't wait to pull the engine out (!)

Oh hang about may be the engine isn't going to do a thing - the anti-roll bar is still there holding the position as well...
...oh I don't know - could just be a cut and see - still if anyone here has actually done this job before I'd like to hear from you

Can't see the weight of the engine making any difference, as it's mounted on the sub frame, and that's going to hold everything in place, as long as it's properly supported.

Pain in the backside - I can not find anyone locally who can supply a bit of 2 inch pipe. There are places on the web that will send me a bit but that will cost the same price as the part.
So I´ve ordered the sodding part. All because I live in the middle of effing nowhere...
