So its rather a bit bigger! It is as wide as the V90 and about 10cm shorter wheel base. Looks like it has almost identical passenger space than the V90 and a decent size boot too...Looks like this could be a real contender.

The new V60 will be a winner I think.

Its very good looking and quite a bit bigger than the old one. To top it off one can already build one on the Swedish Volvo page. Aggressively priced.

The UK will probably not see the T6 though....perhaps a T5.

It certainly looks nice - I have just built one on the UK website configurator. There are no petrol engines on there yet and no R-Design versions on there so far.

Bigger than I expected, had almost expected the current Volvo trend to continue and it to be smaller than the one it is replacing, but that boot is almost as big as the V90. Seems an odd choice as it is going to take sales away from the V90 on the face of it.

Good point, but I have a different perspective. The V60 needs to be competitive with the A4, 3-Series and C-Class. On this comparison, it has slightly better cargo space. Spot on.
Where Volvo have gone wrong is in making the V90 a little small. It is seriously smaller than the E-Class and (let's be really provocative) the Skoda Superb. Volvo Estates of old used to be class-leaders for load capacity. No more.

Can't disagree there. The v90 is way too small bootwise even when compared with the v70 and people complain that was too small compared to the big models of old.

If you have ever stood next to a V90 its a huge car , the boot is big enough , certainly more useful than the old V60 , The floor area is big you could get a fridge in this one , and proper rear seat space .. Will they ever bring the big estate back or has demand vanished I wonder ?

Yes, I have, but I have not compared 'physically' the E-Class or the Superb. On the published cargo capacity, the V90 falls short, but I accept numbers don't tell the whole story, and it is usable space in real-world conditions which matter. If I was in the market for such a large car, I would certainly do some serious comparison of measurements. Happily, the XC60 is big enough for my needs.
