Default 09 s40 2.0D Engine system service required

Hi guys
My wife drives the car to work which is 3miles away and back so it never gets a good blow out, it's done 79k.
Anyway when I get in it I give it s bit of stick and around 2 months ago I went out in it and a hour later it went into limp mode no dash lights so I turned it off and on perfect, gave it a good thrashing and it's been fine......well yesterday when I was driving not miss daisy guess what the yellow triangle came on and it said Engine system service required then mysteriously went off withing seconds and power came back.
I was about to commence a long journey and again gave it some tonk and it's been fine.
Questions
Does this car have that elloys fluid as it has done nearly 80k it may need some
I was under the impression it had a long life dpf?
I think the wife's 3mile drive is killing it but I may be wrong.
It will get it on a reader next week but why is it when I've had it and blasted it then the cars fine for a month +.
I'm getting a petrol next.
Cheers
