Default Real world fuel economy?

Hi all. What are we all getting from our diesels mpg-wise? I've now burned through my first half tank in my '11 200PS big boy. I've worked it out to be giving me 28mpg average over that half tank. This is with a mix of flowing A-roads, a bit of town work and the occasional blat past a dawdle. My cruising speed is generally an indicated 75mph.

How does this sound? I'm relatively happy given that it's heavy with 235 section tyres.

I would never go with the dash... But the only car to tell the truth is our 07 xc90. 20/21 mpg on the dash and when I calculated it when I done a fill up it's pretty accurate. That's us mostly town driving and heavy footed . As an example my V70 returns on average 35mpg on the dash and when I calculated from a fill up it's around 28mpg with the same driving conditions

Aye, I generally ignore the computers version of events - FAKE News

This time I just took it over a half tank coz I was curious and I've not had the car long. I'll start just working out from the occasional fuller tank. The range left indicator seemed fairly accurate.

OK, ours is the 185BHP version (same engine different map) but we get (depending on who drives, she who must be obeyed or my leaden right foot) around town ..... 23-29MPG, and on a long run 32-37MPG ....all running on Shell V-Power diesel.

hope it helps.

On a long run, I'm kinda expecting mid-30s assuming cruise control and decent observation

Get low thirties on my old 54 plate xc90, but calculations show it’s only mid twenties, all town driving, school runs.

I calculate mine pump to pump and got 32.2 on last top up. I drive biased towards motorway so it’s ok but not great (not that I expected it to be).

Mine sits at 9.06 L/100km (or 31.18 UK MPG) over the last 2 years with ~40K km driven.
This is based on my own records every fill-up, the car computer is a bit optimistic but not very far off.

Thumbs up

I'm currently doing 130 mile round trips into London, 45 motorway/20 miles stop start (A40)
Dash is saying 44.4, real world looks like about 37 - 38 between fill ups.
54 plate 163 manual - 285k.
