Viljam. Have you checked rear springs?

If the vibration is up and down, and not related to rotating parts like wheels, tyres and bearings, it can only be a faulty spring that for some reason is reacting to certain frequencies.

Hi,

Few days ago, when I checked rear axle, I looked the spring also. They were good!

Even that I have two sets of wheels (summer and winter) I will buy extra sets of cheap metal rims with tires on them and test with them.

I went to the dealer and they checked also gearbox. Result was that is in good condition and running well.

Thank you everybody!

Hi again,

Seems, that I gave the wrong picture about a situation. Nothing changed, I expressed that after checking gearbox, there is still same situation(my English). The gearbox running well, but car still wobbles....

I tried another set of tires (third), but still no difference. Wobble comes and goes, more sensible on the city speeds. What it can be? Its needs to be something rotating, because if I shut the engine off on the speed, it still wobbles.

Front bearings? I suspect still, its something from rear axle. Any ideas?

Hello all, I'll add my voice to those experiencing a strange wobble.

Mine is a 2008 XC70 AWD in Canada with 315k kms. I put it down to all the various bits I knew were wearing out for a long time but I've mostly made it through my list and still feel a wobble distinctly.

I have had the car for 3 years and done a lot of work in the front end which I feel should have accounted for any regular problem.
- new pads and rotors front and back
- new rear callipers this fall
- new front control arms
- new front stabilizer links
- new front wheel bearings
- rear toe adjustment bushings
- rear 'stay arms'
- it's been lined up by a reputable competent shop
- Ford wheels that have been checked by a wheel place
- brand new Michelin tires

Now on that last point I will point out that two of the michelin tires were actually pretty poor on the Road Force balancer and one was so bad I had it replaced. I wished I could have convinced them to replace the other as well... At least one other poster mentioned Michelins didn't play nicely with his car? weird...

If you are having problems with wobbles I would encourage you to find a shop with a Road Force balancer to see if they can sort out part of your problem.

I /have/ noticed a tiny bit of spring sag in the rear of this car - maybe a half inch? Also I know the rear trailing arm bushings will need to be replaced someday as they've just started to separate....

I was for a while worried it was the prop shaft, but I think I've talked myself back off that cliff haha

I will follow along closely to see what other input is provided on this one.

Are you 100% sure of the driveshafts and it's support bearing ?

I have a 2wd xc70 2009 and have at present a clicking drive shaft I am monitoring, not yet giving problems but expect it too as wear increases.

What about the shock absorbers, are you happy that they are working properly not just not leaking, have known worn shocks to give wheel patter which was more noticable at slower speeds.

Will think on it. Paul.
