Ah, was it not March the Beast From The East struck? It upset my house move.

For what it's worth I would not fit winter tyres to a front drive axle and leave summer tyres on the rear. I'd be concerned the front would grip nicely going in to bends, only for the rears to lose traction and have me facing the wrong way.

It would appear that someone who doesnt agree with your opinion is a Dick in your world. Funny that, I was a dickwad in your other post attacking me. Not sure of the difference?

Sorry I have to agree. Putting winter tyres on one axle only is tantamount to disaster.

Watch this and you will see why.

https://youtu.be/A5aMnmekA38

If after seeing this you still keep to the one set then please post regularly so we know you're still alive.

Would you mix radials and crossplies. NO. What you've done is far more dangerous.

Insurance companies don't want to know when you fit winters, but when ...cos im sure you will...have an accident, if they look at your tyres they will pay out only for 3rd party liabilities.
But its a free world...so if you cant afford another set then fine....sad, but your call.

There is zero evidence to state that fitting them to just the drive wheels makes any difference, unless you intend to drive like a knob!
Oh dear oh dear oh dear.

Have you phoned your insurance to tell them you are winter front and summer rear.

What a moronic idea!

Normally Winter tyres tend to perform poorly in the wet but much better on snow and ice and even mud.
Grippiest tyres should, by convention, go on the back. This is especially important if only two winter tyres are fitted and used on snow. It is much easier to control a marginal front end slide than if the arse end tries to overtake the front end. It happens very very quickly. Hence many tyre fitters, such as Costco, will not fit new tyres to the front only of a car unless a waiver is signed absolving them of responsibility should an accident occur.

That's new, every time I've used them it has been a point blank refusal to put new on front only.

You’re so wrong on this one..

I shared this on another topic below: https://youtu.be/A5aMnmekA38

You may even be better off on all 4 summers..

But to each his own, ofcourse.

I think it depends on the duty manager. You are correct that they usually point blank refuse.

I think thats the same video I put up. Its a very strong case.

I'm trying to understand the mentality of someone who buys a £40k+ car, one that lauds safety and then puts himself and his family at risk to save £300 - £400 pounds. Which isnt a saving as the winters on the rear would save wear on his summers.

Then has the audacity call someone who points out his stupidity a "dick".

A strange world.

He even acknowledges that the front will enable him to pull himself along but does not understand there is prob 700kg over the rear wheels acting like a pundulum.

In the 1 year I have been a member here this is the most silly post I have read.
