Full Credit to dealer in my view, most would have lied and you would never have known.

I would not be happy, but depending on the damage and what had to be replaced I would accept it, it is that or wait another 4 / 6 months, bear in mind you could drive down the road 1 mile and someone hit it and do same damage or far worse.

In this day and age, (UK) I have had a brand new car 1 day old parked in a car park and come back and it has a dent.

Yes, my dealer is one of the good ones and I was indeed compensated for the inconvenience and given a T8 while mine was being seen to. I'm sure in this case the rear bumper replacements are the same parts used on the production line anyway.

If it is only slight damage you should be fine. Big damage with possible weakening of structure, time to say no.

Sorry, but paying the price of a new car and getting a repaired one is not the same as getting a new car hit the day after delivery.

I might consider accepting a repaired one with a SERIOUS discount off the price paid for a new one.

But some people are clearly okay with paying a ticket pice for a refurb.

As others have said, you have no idea how many times parts (e.g. the most common - doors) have been replaced during construction on the production line. I'm sure there are a lot of cars out there that aren't quite as new a people think they are. And if they hadn't told me about the repair there is absolutely no way I would have noticed they had replaced the rear bumper.

I think there is a difference in having a minor part or dent scratch repaired replaced, to bring it back to a level of it being as good as new, I would not use the term refurb, but the fact is a lot of new cars by the time they have reached the dealer has to have some minor repair / paint etc done, in fact for many cars and including some high end manufactures like BMW their cars have sat in a compound for months on end started every week and ran around and then the mileage reading reset, it beggars belief what goes on behind closed doors these days in the motor trade.

So “as good as new” and “new” are one and the same ? Ok, I understand now why some of you don’t have a problem paying a full price for a refurb product.

They are, at least the one for my MY 17 V90 was. I watched it being unwrapped and fitted.

If it has BLIS you cannot paint the bumper. Any paint or filler can potentially affect the operation of the radar units. If you have BLIS you need to make sure you get a new prepainted bumper ordered from the factory and fitted.

Very Very few from the factory in my experience … what happens at a dealer no body can tell .

I would inspect it when you get the car … I'm pretty sure you will not be able to detect anything at all …. And if you can point out something to them insist on a new factory painted Bumper cover.
