I have found the vibration....
The top engine mount, which is undone when the cambelt is replaced (which has just been done by volvo), was refitted with the rubber part sat towards the rear of its holder, so that its front rubber face never came into contact with its holder when the engine ticked over, thus allowing it to shake the car. I have loosened the bolt through the engine top mount, slid the rubber forward, and retightened it. It now absorbs vibrations and the car is back to its normal smooth self. I have informed holden volvo Norwich who did the job.....

Thanks to Lancee for being right and to outnumbered for being so helpful.

For what its worth I may put this as a thread so that google will find "vibration after cambelt change"

The dealer left the oil level at the very bottom of the permitted level of the dipstick after the service and cambelt/aux belt/pulley change, and I do mean the very bottom. They had it back in, only after i contacted volvo, and redid the service with the top guy checking the car over. I told him that the car was vibrating like mad on tickover after they did the job, but it was called normal vibration. He was a pleasant chap though, not abrasive like some. I have called the dealer and cancelled the 2nd booking I had made to search for this vibration, and they did sound a bit sheepish. He said i could pop in anytime for a once over. Its just a shame they cannot get the little but important details right. As far as oil was concerned, Volvo Norwich said that they are not allowed time to check dipstick levels, and simply fill a container and add that to the engine, and close the bonnet. Assume your oil level is correct after a service at your peril! Many many thanks for your help. I have ordered a new top mount to be sure it is all now corredct, but the vibration is gone completely. It does make me wonder how many of these slideable bushes are fitted in such a way that they are ineffective
