Default Stupid Question (only if you know the answer)

Did any of the 300 Series Volvo's have power steering?

Or did that not arrive until the 400 Series?

PAS was a option on 360's and most GLT's did have it. 340's were retro fit and pretty much only seen new on disabled modified cars

Our 1192 340 1.4 DL has Power Steering. We didn't know it was there but it's a real bonus! I surmise the car was bought for an elderly lady who had it installed as an extra. It's been no problem to date, apart from being a bit of added noise. No noticeable fuel usage either.

Thanks guys,

The reason for the question is that I'm toying with the idea of getting another Volvo to sit alongside my 2008 C70, although this will be a fourth car as the wife has her own car and I also have a company car so the C70 is only used in the summer months.

But I fancy a project something I can fettle and play with. the other option is a 240 Estate.

get a 360. they are fun and easy to throw around, plus not exactly hard to fix either. look for an 88 up 360. in my market anything 88 or newer has p/s.

I have one but need to hand on to it until I can find a supply for new track rods for them.

I don't like PAS much so once that is sorted it will be available

Hi Dai ,
please let me know when , or sell it to me as it is ?
Thanks The GLT was certainly light but there is something fundimentaly wrong with the 300 steering geometry for it to get heavier and heavier the more lock there is ... maybe a tweek to the castor would transform it , but driving one with the recommended 27 psi trye pressures is almost impossible especially as it gets heavier and heavier as the tyres wear too !

Top mounts tend to be the biggest problem with heavy steering.

There is nothing wrong with the rack but I need to use it to work out what can be used to replace the track rods with as the 360 PAS ones are no longer available
