Default Tyre question.

Hi guys,
I've got 4 volvo alloys with 195/60R 15 tyres on, and have one brand new 185/65R 15 tyre.

Can I put my brand new tyre in place of the weakest one on the volvo alloys without it being illegal/unsafe/silly etc.

Regards

Ben

NO NO NO.

Tyres must be matched pairs and tbh should be the same brand on each axle.

A freind of mine had problems with very poor handling / pulling. I pulled the front wheels off and had a pull on the suspension - nothing. Anyway I went to refit the tyres when I notice one seemed taller than the other - side by side over 1" difference. The silly thing is both tyres were marked the same size.

Sounds sensible to me, I will leave it well alone and stick with the matched tyres.

Thanks for the quick response.

Thumbs down

Agree with Dai, it could also affect your insurance if you were to have an 'incident'

I often mess around a little with tyre sizes (always looking for a bargain)... the important thing is that you have to have the same size per axle... I'm currenly running 205/50-15's... my speedo's runs a little fast, but the Sat Nav keeps me informed...
