The glow plugs on these cars won't come on unless the temp is below 5 degrees, I'd suggest trying a tow (if its manual)
I assume you've checked for timing belts ect, all usual stuff? Its possible you could have an air leak and the diesel is running back too the tank Give us a list of what all you've checked so far and symptoms up too now (if any)

Lazy turning I would guess is the starter / battery (which you say you replaced) / bad earth, bad earth can be checked by using a jump lead from the engine too the battery, has the car ran since replacing the belts? These engines are critical about the pump timing, I'm in a similar situation myself, I replaced the engine in my S70 TDi and it hasn't ran since, before fitting the engine I replaced the timing belts, so I'm hoping when I check the pump timing I will find it not right. I also have diesel too the injectors, got the engine too fire on easy start and I have towed it 4 miles, I've even put an injector on a pipe outside the engine and am getting fuel through at least 3 injectors, there is no other god given reason why mine won't start either.
Yep, the glow plug light will not come on unless its below 5 degrees

Hi there, could it be the no. 4 injector with the run sensor on? Had a similar experience with a vw t4 van, injector 4 sensor had packed up telling the ecu that it failed to fire. Worth testing (don't know how to , mind), but they are jolly pricey... 250 for my v70 p2 tdi, plus the dredded..
Just a thought.. |

I had tried another pick-up injector, but didn't connect it, I was told by a VW expert that the Injector wouldn't need to be connected for it to start, but its my next step if I find that the pump timing is right
