Bawsd something up.
Ok I've done something. Fitted a pre turbo methanol injector but all went well, However pulling away up my hill I forgot to tighten up a post turbo hose and it blew off. Went home refitted and tightened up however problem now is :-
Less torque than normall under 2K, engine is pretty dead between 2K-3.5K , slow slow response from engine (unless over 3.5k) Things I've done to see if they help, checked pre turbo hoses for any leaks, full oil flush and change, disconnected the bat over night to reset, I think I may have over spooled the turbo when it came off and that's causing the problem but any suggestions to confirm or headers in other directions? Many thanks G Just adding doesnt seem to be much vacuum on the line to the turbo at idel but I guess that will go up a bit with rev's, The boost level at full rpm seems normal but it is slow to climb and doesn't start gaining boost till higher up the rev range. Now wether thats cause of the turbo or or something else not 100% sure, the turbo does feel bit stiffer to spin than it should, Bought a full refurb fit for it so probably do that and go from there, Unless anyone has some suggestions to chase up? In the interests of Keeping this upto date, Thought I'd fill in what's more or less fixed it.
I stripped doen and cleaned out the control solenoid for the turbo and this has brought it back upto 90%ish of what it was before, Still need to rebuild the turbo to get it upto spec but, Maybe this will help someone else if they have similar problems G |

I thought water/methanol injection should be fitted POST turbo, even post intercooler???
I'm looking eventually at fitting W/M injection on my D5 but the usual injection point is at the outlet of the i/c from my research.

Hi yeah it is post intercooler on one but a small injector just before the turbo can give you a good boost too. Keeps the turbo cooler etc told it's best not to go beyond 50% methanol. Not tried going higher than that (yet)

WI & Diesel
Hi,
Hope you manage to fix your problems soon. Please do keep us up to date on your WI adventures. Worked very well on my T4. I want to install it on my V70 diesel (need to fix some issues as wel), so I'm very interested in your diesel/WI story. Good luck! P.S. I've been reading the waterinjection forum for quite some years: http://www.waterinjection.info/ Interesting stuff about pre and post turbo injection. Not too much people with diesel experience though :-( Last edited by v40jlt4; Aug 20th, 2010 at 12:11. |
