Yep yep...not hardwire mind you...I've placed mine (like most others I would imagine) behind the rearview mirror on the passenger side, so you can see it from the drivers seat.

Then run the cable along the lining in the roof, down the door seam, under the mats to the rear 12v socket.

I'll grab photos later if noone beats me to it.

Yep I've got one fitted, hardwired and just under the rear view mirror, I tried to both sides of mirror and found that this restricted the field of view from the camera.

When you lock your car does the camera come back on for around 5 seconds or so,ive got my sat nav plugged into the rear 12v socket on the centre console & when i switch the car off the sat nav goes off but when i lock the car it comes back on for around 5 seconds then the socket powers off again.

Did you DIY hardwire it? I don't really fancy hijacking the fuse box and attempting it!!

I got mine hardwired at a car radio shop, bought the kit on ebay, from memory the kit was about £10 & fitting was about £30, like you I didn't trust myself. I checked with dealer and they said it wouldn't affect my warranty, which was my main concern.

Apologies for the rubbish pictures and the messy car (Damn kids!!) ....but you get the jist..

Camera positioned left of the rear view mirror, with cable hidden under the roof lining, running along to the driver side door.

Hidden under the black rubber threshold, down to the carpet, then tucked underneath the mats, then under the drivers seat.

Followed underneath the drivers side, passenger mat into the rear socket.

Not the most neat way of doing it I'm sure, and hardwiring would solve that, however this is the way I've done it in my last 2 cars.

Amazing how dealers vary. My one said they could not hardwire a dash cam for me as it would invalidate the warranty. (I don't believe that).
