Please forgive my ignorance, but how do I find out if the maps in my vehicle are up to date? I bought my car from a main dealer a month ago and they told me the maps were in date. Do I trust them? Do I heck! So if I can establish what is there and take it from there if needs be.

Firstly which version of satnav do you have, there are 3 different versions for an XC60

Oldest is MMM2 and has the binnacle on top of the dash where you see the radio stations and DVD based then there is Sensus which is HD based but updated by DVD discs and activation code and finally there is Sensus Connect that can be updated via USB - has the Internet globe on the right hand side buttons.

There are a couple of other variants but they the rare

Just found the version in mine, it says 31421838AA, Europe, so I guess mine is out of date.
Can anyone tell me what the other info shown means? It also says 'C2A1 Classic 100.1 Free space 255mb'.
I'm guessing 'Classic' is where it is getting traffic info from. But free space? Does this deminish as updates are added and how can it be increased? Is it necessary to increase 'free space'?

The free space never seems to change on mine.
Classic 100.1 indicates that the Classic FM 100.1MHz carrier is being used for the RDS traffic data. This may change as you travel into different regions.
C2A1 is the DAB Programme Information code for Classic FM.

Sorry for the simple question...

I've downloaded the latest maps version onto USB and the car is currently uploading - it said will take circa 1hr 30mins.....how do I keep the car on for that long? Ignition will surely drain the battery or timeout?!

Thanks

It is not a problem if you interrupt the upload, it will resume next time you start the car.
I started mine numerous times before completion, and it uploaded no problem.
