Default Windscreen Washer Tubing - Spare one?

I have found recently that I am loosing all my washer fluid.

Having removed the bottle I have found one tube with nowhere to go - Can someone help me?

From the motor for the front it goes to a "T-Piece" which splits off the headlamp washers and then to another "T-Piece" which goes to the bonnet and one (about 9" long) is just dangling in the breeze - Cannot see anywhere for it to go!

Anyone goy any ideas?

Many thanks

I think that it may be one of the headlamp washer tubes :)

James

Many thanks for you idea - I have checked this and on my 740SE there is a single tube from teh washer that goes to the NSF and then OSF headlamp washers. That tube is already accounted for.

IT really is a mystry where this one goes.

Hopefully someone will have an idea.

Cheers

I'm pretty certain I had one on my 1990 760 - I think it was a breather tube of sorts.

Hi,

is there an air vent valve in the system? I think the system may be along the general lines of:- pressure pipe from pump to air vent valve, two pipes from valve, one to atmosphere and one to T connector (from there to headlights and windscreen).

Any help?

Paul, Brian

That s an interesting idea - I guess it must have a one way valve to stop it just pumping everything out.

I will pop into the Volvo Parts department and see because if there was some sort of valve it has gone AWOL now!

Will report back

Many thanks

This is normal for the system so do not worry about it. I assume that the washers work satisfactorily. The headlamp washers should have a small version of the one-way valve for the windscreen washers and you may find a couple of inline filters. Is your car saloon or estate? If estate there will be two motors and vent tubing will be in place behind the filler tube. If saloon then only one motor and a screw closing off the vent pipe stub. I have to retrim the vent tube every six months or so as it tends to split, spraying windscreen washer fluid everywhere!

All the best, Peter.
