Question D5 DMF - 163bhp vs 185bhp

Hello everyone,

Can anyone tell me if there is any difference between the DMF from 163bhp (2001-2005) and 185bhp (2005-) D5 engine? I've got 163bhp engine and I'll be replacing the DMF soon. Maybe I could fit the DMF from the later model just to extend its live a little.

Anyone knows if they're the same?

There are different dual mass flywheels for the 5 speed M56 gearbox and the 6 speed M66 box.

I do keep steel, lightened single mass flywheels to replace these original items in stock.

Regards, Don.

Question

Hi Don,

Have seen and tested D5 engine with single mass flywheel? What about the noise and the vibrations?

Thanks

I too may be interested in a single dmf for my 2002 s60 d5 (163). I would be interested to know the are benefits/drawbacks and reliabilty of the single converson. Also can you supply the complete 4 part cluch kit with the converted mass wheel?

I asked one of the sellers to send me some pictures of 163 and 185bhp flywheels. They guy told me that they look pretty much the same. But I found on one of the volvo forums that the Hall sensors are mounted differently. Does anyone knows anything about it?

I attached the pictures of flywheels. 163bhp is the one on the right. The second picture is for the 163bhp DMF and the last picture shows 185bhp DMF.

Mine goes in on the 9th of Aug for a clutch due to the bearing leak and was hoping that the DMF will need replacing as I have an after market warranty.
