Exclamation Low rev, Low power and unusual engine rythem.

Firstly i am a first time poster so sorry in advance if my post seems wrong in any way.
The vehicle - C30 R Design 2.0L D4
As i was driving i noticed a sudden loss of power and low revs. I pulled to the side and applied the hand brake and gear into neutral. The engine rhythm is unusual and slightly off while sounding sluggish and when i try to pull off in first it is very difficult and even stalls. I have tried keeping the revs high while in neutral and even turned it off and left it for while but the problem still persists.
I would like to take a guess that it has something to do with the fuel system.
Any help and i would be great full, thank you.

I guess there's a few gaps to fill in here, so to save some time:

- Any warning messages/EML on instrument panel?
- How many miles has the vehicle covered?
- Did this problem occur after fuelling?
- Do you know when the fuel filter was last changed?
- Did the problem occur suddenly from perfect running, or has it degraded over time?
