Default 2004.5 S40 Electrical Nonsense

Hey all, trying to find out some information on a second-gen S40.

Long-story-short, our babysitter's S40 is going completely haywire. No turn signals, wipers stay on, dash lights/guages are inoperable, etc, etc, yet the car starts and runs just fine.

I was hoping someone might be able to point me in the right direction. I've checked the battery/charging system and all seems right where that's concerned.

I would assume it's a CEM issue based on the amount of systems that are affected. I also know that all the control modules in these cars are prone to damage depending on their location due to sunroof drains and other factors.

So getting on with it:

1. Where is the CEM located on the '04 S40? Behind the glove box? Below the steering wheel? (The interweb searches produce different thoughts on the matter.)

2. Am I able to remove and reinstall the unit without needing DiCE or VIDA for whatever reason?

3. What is the correct procedure for resetting the system? I've read different things from various sources, some saying three minutes of terminal touching all the way up to thirty minutes. Some sources are saying that I need the key in position two when reconnecting the battery, others say I don't.

4. Any other tips/tricks/info would be appreciated.

From your description of the symptoms, you appear to be talking about the 2004 + S40. If so, you need to post in the S40/V50 forum as this one only deals with the classic S40. A completely different beast entirely.

I have apparently clicked on the wrong sub-forum! Apologies!
