Default Foaming Hell !

I have finally got around taking my drivers seat apart to find out why the seat back seemed twisted. As Dennis suggested in my previous post, the foam had split but it also seems the frame is twisted so there is a bit of work to do.

There are some nasty scorch marks under one part of the heater pad as well which is probably why they aren't working !

Also the foam in the seat is being nibbled away but the metal parts under the seat - which is why I seem to have a snow storm of yellow foam bits under the seat.

So, a few things to do.....

Evostick was suggested to re-stick the split foam, does anyone have any views on the best glue to use ?

...or does anyone have a good passenger seat I can relieve them of to use the (relatively) unsat on foam to put into my drivers seat ? (west sussex or london area). I have checked my local scrappy, but no 240s

Thanks

Steve

If the heater is not working, chances are that you have a wire break near the thermostat as that is a weak point. Easy to solder, but slip a crimping tube on to the wire first so you can seal and reinforce after soldering.

A seat rebuild is pretty straightforward, just be careful so you don't cut your fingers, there are lots of sharp objects in there. Well, you should know that by now, having stripped the old one. When you put it back together, I recommend putting a piece of carpet between the seat foam and the grid. This will make the seat feel more solid, and prevent future "snow storms".

The glue I will recommend is 3M #77 (spray can), which is a glue specially for foam. Other types of glue may melt the material. I will also recommend reinforcing any cuts and tears with pieces of cloth, like a cut-up T-shirt.

You will find a description and pictures on my web site:

Good luck!
Erling.
