V50 Alarm Module Location?
I have been getting the Alarm System Service Required message for the past week. I have sourced a replacement part but have seen two separate locations listed for the siren module. Can anyone please confirm if it is located under the front drivers side wheel arch or under the wiper panel at the rear of the engine bay?

The siren module is in the plenum chamber just under the nearside edge of the windscreen.

Strange?
Thanks iainmd for clearing up the position of the V50 alarm module. This has however left me with another question.
Coincident with my Alarm System Service Required messages I was getting an intermittent, bizarre squealing noise coming from the front off-side of my car. This was usually when the doors were unlocked but would sometimes start whilst driving. It would last for seconds or minutes and even continue once the engine was off and doors locked. I (stupidly?) assumed that this noise was related to the failure of my alarm module. However now I have found out that the alarm is not at the front of the car I investigated the noise further and found it to be from my headlamp unit, specifically what I believe to be the levelling motor. (I had replaced my headlamp with a 'used' unit a few weeks previous after some deer damage). Having fixed the headlamp issue I am no longer getting the alarm system faults. Can anybody explain how or if the 2 systems are related (or do I still have an alarm issue?) Many thanks. |

Do I need programing if bought a use one?
I was told on a local shop that I need to buy an original one because that type of component its like pair to the VIN of the vehicle. That I shoul not buy a use one from other car. It that correct?

No, it's not coded to the car.
