PCV replacement guide needed
Hi,
I need to replace my PCV and associated hoses on a 2005, 2.4 T5. Can anyone give me a link to a step by step guide please? I've tried using the forum search but it never seems to work properly for me. I go to Advanced Search and look for PCV in this forum and it comes back with zero results! I've tried using a Google search and that only comes up with four cylinder or much older 5 cylinder versions. Many thanks.

Try searching on google first with words such as volvo s60 turbo pcv forum
Also try searching on Youtube, there are a few videos. However, not all of these talk clearly about the few difficulties and tools needed. this is my replacement on a non turbo which has a different intake and is much easier but has some common difficult points. Bear in mind that the pcv box may feel empty but it still needs replaced https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3fEjbMpVSfo Specifically some wobble 1/4 connections may be needed for some lower intake bolts, the intake bolt torque over the new paper gasket, sliding the new gasket over the lower bolts, new throttle body gasket, the difficulty to disconnect and to pull out the injectors rail (I use a pry bar to pull it from there once everything is disconnected), using vaseline over injector seals, some hoses are hard to put back in place, testing the lower engine port for being clogged, etc. One tip is to secure everything with oeticker clamps and clean the metal surface of any oil before sliding the new hose, do not use regular worm clamps as these loosen up with vibrations and cause oil leaks and lost of vacuum. It is also the best moment to replace the coolant thermostat see this as a starting point https://www.brickboard.com/AWD/index...215&show_all=1

FCP Euro has a decent video on this job available on youtube.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oEOzIoVxO4s&t=17s Very straightforward job except for the lower lefthand side bolt of manifold. I didn't have a wobble socket available and lost patience and took out thermostat and housing. The thermostat housing is tricky too though. You need to get a torx socket in underneath the housing and only a narrow socket will fit. Best to go get a wobble socket and avoid the T-stat altogether! Also, when removing the oil trap, save yourself the hassle of trying to reach that bottom bolt. With the top bolt off, just wrench/pry the oil trap right out breaking the lower mount. That will give you a good view of the bolt and you can take it off easily with broken box already out.
