Which means you have fault codes logged.
Read them and go from there.

When it has cut out does it start straight away? If it doesn't it might be the ECM relay in the engine bay. There are 2 others that can be swapped in its place 1) start circuit and 2) glowplug.

Mine was randomly cutting out in very dodgy places.....motorway etc and then wouldn't start for a few minutes. Pure luck I decided to swap the relay out for the start one and then started to have starting problems and the cutting out had gone.

Default d5 cutting out problem

hi
the car restarts I have also tried swapping relays
still cut out
Only once did it not restart straight away but after a few minuids did.

the best so far is changing the fuel filter done around 50 miles and did not cut out but engine service message came up
and on start up alarm message fault came up but this it does.
but on that journey of 50 miles did not cut out ?
when it does cut out because its a manual car if moving along car just cuts out and restarts and carries on ?

there isnt a lot in there.

High and low pressure fuel pumps.

high pressure fuel sensor.

Could it be related to the immobiliser?

maybe the antenna aound the key hole to read the chip in the key?

there was an early issue with the rubber intake hose collapsing under partial vacuum caused by clogged air filter. Normally replaced with exoskeleton type.

What does the air filter look like.

Could have 2 faults together collaborating as a real teaser.

Is the grille oily at the bottom?

The immobilizer check is only performed during the initial start up.
Once the engine is running, the immobilizer check has passed.
Therefore, in the event of engine stalling after initial start, the immobilizer system is not the cause.

Default Hi

Hi thank you for the info very useful info
it looks like the following sentences means it’s probley not the alarm system ( pasted section)

The immobilizer check is only performed during the initial start-up. Once the engine is running, the immobilizer check has passed. Therefore, in the event of engine stalling after initial start, the immobilizer system is not the cause.
