Is it worth Getting Agreed Value Insurance ?
I'm thinking of paying an extra amount to get the value of my car agreed. The company I am thinking of going with ask for an extra £38 to perform this service. You have to send in photos and suggest a price to which they have to agree. The trouble with this is that they still may not agree and only offer whatever the market value is.
Glasses guide suggest around £800 which is way off what dealers are currently after for cars in similar condition. Similar milage 940's are up for £1500 to £2000 on Autotrader and some don't seem to be in very good condition. I read on here about someone with agreed value insurance not getting that back after their car was written off, is this common ? I would be interested in any other stories as I am sure they can and do find ways to get out of paying up given the chance. |

I requested a value, but as per usual, they refused this but still "upped" the previous agreed value with an additional £2000 for which I think its better than nothing. I was told that if the car would be garaged then I could easily have the value I originally requested. Never made a claim so can not answer if I would get full payout or not

Thanks very much for the reply. I tried Footman James but they require an independent valuation from a club or specialist. As far as I know the VOC don't offer this service so if I go this route I will have to find someone else to value the car.
It's difficult to compare the various companies as they all offer slightly different things. My current insurers have so far given me the best overall deal but offered me the option of getting the car valued. This wasn't previously offered so I'm wondering if it it really worth paying out the extra, the other problem is that my insurance need renuing before nest week ! I would be interested to hear more if anyone can offer any advice about this, thanks. |
