Going for a semi-GT replica look, I've already got a GT grille and will try to track down any other suitable bits, dash, etc. Paintwise, probably the 70's Volvo orange with Matt-black bonnet. Being a 142S i'll leave the running gear reasonably standard for now as it already has overdrive & twin SU's, but it will be lowered. I haven't decided on wheels yet, will probably start with Virgo's as i've got a set, but would love something more period like Cosmics if I could get a set with the correct stud spacing. All of this is of course after the basic rebuilding brakes/suspension/welding that come with any job like this!!!

I'm a bit jealous. A sight like the one in your photo in the U.S. is more rare than NOS 164 fogs. Even in the weeds the cars look great!

Please do upload lots of photos. Would love to see how the resto progresses.

Hi Jon

http://howmanyleft.co.uk/

Have you seen this

It's on the 120 forum

If it's correct only 8 142 on the road at moment and does that figure include those on SORN?

With yours and one thats for sale down south, could be double figures soon.

Best

John

That is mind blowing, I can't believe there are so few 2 doors out there!!!

I also had a look at the number of 164s! No wonder I have never seen one out on the roads.

Probably not many 2-door RHD ones left. Loads of LHD ones though. The 2-door 1967 (model M) are the rarest. They only made 1500.

This could be the oldest 2-door RHD 140. In light of that, it would be bit of a shame to tart it up. Would be better to restore it to original. If it is -modified- it won´t be worth much. Restored to original spec it would be worth quite a lot.

Still, up to you to do with it what you want, just an opinion

Borderzac already beats me with an older RHD as he as a B18 RHD 142, but I take your point about the originality, I'm not going to make any mods that cannot easily be reversed to standard should a future owner chose to do so, the majority of the vehicle will be staying pretty standard.
