Default s60 etm fault

i was looking for an ETM for my friends s60, so got the part, took it to Volvo specialist garage and they told him that software on ETM cant be changed hence he has to buy brand new ETM from them.

question is - can second hand ETM be programmed to another car?

thanks

im led to believe one may work from the same year and part number...cheaper option would be to have it repaired....

Find a new Volvo specialist mate he knows nothing about this issue.

They can be reprogramed to work, what year is the car in question?

Im not sure if its the same as a P1 V70 ME7 but on this model as long as its a turbo one or N/A it should be fine.

Alternatively send your original one to this guy thus no programing required:
