Dice unit buy/borrow/hire
Wanted: Dice unit to clear the dreaded SBS Airbag warning. I've just bought one from China and it looks like it's faulty.
I have a laptop with Vida installed so I just need the Dice unit. Leeds/Bradford area, can collect and I'm happy to leave a deposit. |

The Dice unit was initially detected as a CP2102 USB to UART bridge. After some searching I found a link to the drivers and installed them, however the unit still isn't detected as a Dice by the PC nor in the Dice diagnostic application. It's been tested on a laptop and a PC, both running Windows XP Pro SP3, with and without Vida running, including being plugged into the car. When it's connected to either USB or the car the USB com status light blinks blue briefly and the Firmware status and Vehicle interface status lights show steady blue. The version of Vida I'm using is 2011D.
Any insight appreciated as my other option is to hope that it is actually faulty and return it to China! |

Thanks, I did wonder about the firmware. Is there a way of running a firmware update if the unit is only recognised as a USB to UART bridge?

Well I can't say for certain but it is worth a try
Plug the dice in to the car mad run the firmware program select the latest firmware from its folder and see how you go. |

Just tried that but it's still not detected in the Dice diagnostic or firmware update applications and there doesn't seem to be a way of forcing a firmware update.
Was worth a try though. As a last resort to save the cost of shipping, the supplier has offered to pay the cost if I can get it repaired but I wouldn't know where to start! |

The saga continues...
The supplier claims that "This item can only be used for for Volvo S40 (04-) & V50 2004; for Volvo all models 2005-2009". Which sounds like a load of old cobblers. |
