Default Manually activate folding mirrors?

Hi all,

I have folding mirrors on the car which fold and unfold with the central locking.
On an icy morning they stick closed, which means I have to defrost the car, switch it off, get out, lock and unlock. I've tried pressing the mirror buttons and fiddling around but I can't seem to trigger them manually. Is there a knack?

For now I've just disabled the folding mirrors....

Car is a 2011/2012 S80.

Cheers,

Sean.

Before you enter the car, just rock the mirrors a little by hand. That usually breaks the ice enough for them to unfold automatically.

You can fold/unfold manually by pressing both left and right mirror select buttons simultaneously. This should be mentioned in the user's manual.

Just to say thanks!
You were right about pressing the two buttons, they work when the ignition is on, I was always trying when it wasn't as I was expecting to work regardless.

Very handy on a narrow street when cars are parked both sides.

If you manually close them before getting out of the car, it should remember and not try to auto open then when you next unlock it, useful if frosty as you can let them warm a bit before opening them if need be!

It doesn't matter. They'll simply not succeed in unfolding if they are frozen. Nothing else happens.

When car is dry spray some silicone oil or WD40 water repellent type spray in the mirror pivot . This hould help stop the ice locking the pivot up if done regularly .

Over winter (i.e. now) I disable the auto fold on the Sensus menu so when on my drive overnight they don't freeze, and just use the 'two button' method to choose when to fold them in - i.e. when parked on a road during the day.

Me too, saves the panic when they don't open when it is freezing.
