Default Fuel flap not locking

Hi there,

I noticed this morning that my fuel flap was not locking shut when I lock my car, this results in it sitting slightly open.

The doors lock ok.

It's a 2005 S60 D5 SE and hasn't had this issue before.

Is this common, is it a quick fix?

Thanks!

Gordon

Well...

First of all- fuel flap locks several minutes later than the door (I think time delay can be set in Vida).
This is to allow you to lock the car and still fill up at petrol station.

Lock the car and check the fuel flap considerably later (2-10 minutes, me thinks).

It may be you don't have a fault at all..

Thank you for the fast response (always amazed about how fast the responses are on here!)

I will check that...

If it sits slightly open then it's also possible the locking pin can't make it through the hole and it would be unlocked.
Might need to investigate the spring and hinges.

Common issue. Once the door is unlocked (at the gas station), the locking pin should lock either a few seconds after moving the car, or after about 10 minutes. Replace it with a used unit. Here's how it looks inside https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3gAPwre5hoU

Had a similar problem, squirted WD40 on and in the locking pin housing, worked ever since ...

Small question, I realise the piece of plastic that the locking pin engages is broken , but if it was intact ,how does one open the fuel flap, can't find any info in the Spanish manual .

My S80,has a push button below the exterior light switch to the right of the steering wheel, or left side if LHD..

See Oragex's video it shows where the switch is with the locking pin.
