Unless the ball joint want replacing leave it alone.
The arm will pullout of the bolt with the ball joint in place Mike

Thanks Mike,
Ball joint is good. But I just want to replace the arm, which is stuck with the ball joint bolt.

It can be a struggle. You will need a big pry bar to pull it down. If it stuck wack the arm near the joint to losen it.there us a good u tube vid from one of the members of how to replace the arm
Mike

A few good hits with a leather or wooden mallet should free it up. Don't be afraid to hit it. I would also recommend soaking in penetrating fluid overnight if possible.

Careful, don't hit directly metal to metal on the control arm. Use as mentioned something to dampen the impact, wood or similar. Then smack from the sides.

The Volvo way to separate the ball joint is to use a ratchet strap around both control arms as close to the ball joint as possible and pull the ends of the control arms down.
If it's stuck just tap the control arm gently like advised here while pulling down with ratchet strap.

it will help if you can lift the caliper assembly using a jack, the assembly is currently being forced towards the ground by strut/droplink making your job much harder.

Using the ratchet strap is safest for the ball joint since there's no pressure to the joint from controlarm bushings or strut. If you compress the strut with a jack and the ball joint releases from the control arm then it might slip and release spring pressure. Possible damage to ball joint and ABS wire. Probably can do it but I don't see why risk and not to use a 5£ ratchet strap.
